This coming Saturday, Asymptote will be hosting an event in New York to celebrate the 4 year anniversary of the journal. Three of the best contemporary literary translators — Susan Bernofksy, Edith Grossman and Damian Searls — will be in conversation discussing their work re-translating classic works of Western literature, as well as exploring ”why we urgently need new translations of classic texts.” The event will take place at The New School Auditorium in NYC from 6:30PM to 8:30 PM, and tickets can be purchased here. Find out more information on the event’s Facebook page here.
The NYC event organisers have told me there’s a special offer too: ‘Take advantage of the “Sunny Weather Special” – for a limited time you can donate $5 to the Asymptote indiegogo campaign and receive a half-price ticket for the event: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/asymptote‘
Then, two days later, if you happen to be in London you can attend Asymptote’s anniversary event in the big smoke, which will be held at the Free Word Centre. More information here.
